PIANO SKOOL — PRIVACY POLICY
Effective date: July 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how KeyScale Studio LLC, an Illinois limited liability company doing business as Piano Skool (“Piano Skool,” “we,” “us”), collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit pianoskool.com and its related pages, take our quiz, join our free programs, or purchase our courses, memberships, and coaching (the “Services”).
The short version: We collect what we need to teach you piano and run the business — your contact details, your answers and purchases, and the practice videos you choose to send. We use a small set of trusted providers — like Stripe for payments — to operate. We do not sell your personal information, and your CoachBack videos are private by default. You can reach us anytime at [email protected] to access, correct, or delete your information.
Information you give us directly: - Identity & contact — name, email address, phone/WhatsApp number, and (for Welcome Kit shipping) postal address. - Quiz, survey & onboarding answers — e.g., your Piano Level Quiz responses, goals, and experience level. - Purchase information — what you bought, when, and payment status. Card details go directly to our payment processor (Stripe); we never see or store your full card number. - Practice videos & submissions — videos you submit for CoachBack or challenges, and the messages that accompany them. - Messages & support — emails, WhatsApp/SMS messages, chat messages (including with our website assistant), support tickets, and phone call notes. - Live-session participation & recorded calls — group sessions (e.g., via Zoom) are recorded for replays; your voice/video/chat may appear in a recording if you participate on camera or ask questions. Calls and video meetings with our team may also be recorded — we always tell you before or at the start. - Community posts — if you post in member community spaces (live-session chat, member groups, comments), your name and post are visible to other members. Post only what you’re comfortable sharing. - Gift purchases — if you buy a gift card or gifted access for someone, we collect the recipient’s contact details you provide, used only to deliver the gift.
Information collected automatically (when you use the site): - Device and browser type, IP address, approximate location (city/region), pages visited, referral source, and interactions — collected via cookies and similar technologies (Section 4), including Google Analytics 4 / Google Tag Manager and, when active, the Meta Pixel.
Information from others: payment confirmations from Stripe; delivery status from shipping carriers; platform data from the tools listed in Section 5 acting on our behalf. We do not buy marketing lists.
What we don’t collect: we do not knowingly collect government IDs, health data, precise geolocation, or biometric identifiers — your practice videos are watched by a human teacher for feedback only and are never used for facial recognition or biometric analysis.
Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on these bases: contract (delivering what you bought); legitimate interests (running, securing, and improving the Services; first-party analytics); consent (marketing communications; non-essential cookies/pixels; using a member video in marketing per Section 7); and legal obligation (tax, accounting, consumer law).
We use cookies and similar technologies for three purposes: essential (login, checkout, security — always on), analytics (Google Analytics 4 via Google Tag Manager, to understand what’s working), and advertising (e.g., Meta Pixel and Google ad tags, to measure campaigns and reach people likely to enjoy Piano Skool).
You can control cookies through your browser settings, and opt out of personalized advertising through Google’s ad settings, Meta’s ad preferences, and industry tools like aboutads.info. Where we operate a cookie consent banner, your choices there control non-essential cookies. Where required by law, we honor recognized opt-out preference signals (such as Global Privacy Control) as an opt-out of targeted advertising, and you can always opt out directly by contacting us (Section 8).
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s independent marketing. We share it only with:
We keep personal information only as long as needed: account & course data — while your account is active and for a reasonable period after (so you can come back); transaction & tax records — as required by law (typically 7 years); CoachBack & challenge videos — while needed to provide feedback and run your program, after which they are deleted or archived; marketing data — until you unsubscribe or become inactive for an extended period; support threads — long enough to resolve issues and maintain history. You can request earlier deletion (Section 8), subject to legal retention duties.
CoachBack videos from paying members are private by default — seen by your coach, used only to create your feedback. We ask prior permission before using any member video in marketing or teaching materials. Free Kickstart Challenge submissions work differently: by participating you agree we may use your video and first name in marketing (website, emails, social, ads); you can withdraw that permission for future uses anytime at [email protected]. Details are in our Terms & Conditions, Section 7.
Everyone, everywhere: email [email protected] (or use pianoskool.com/contact) to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to opt out of marketing (or just click unsubscribe / reply STOP), or to opt out of targeted advertising. We verify requests using the email or phone on file, respond within 30 days where feasible (and within any shorter period required by your local law), and never discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
US state residents (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws): you may have specific statutory rights to know, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy, and opt out of “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising, and the right to appeal a refusal. We extend the substance of these rights to all US users as described above; to appeal a decision, reply to our response and a manager will review it. We do not sell personal information; our use of advertising pixels is described in Sections 4–5 and can be opted out of.
EEA/UK residents: you additionally have the rights to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent at any time, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (or the UK ICO). We are the data controller; contact details are in Section 12.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards — encrypted connections (HTTPS), reputable processors, access limited to the two people who run Piano Skool, and payment handling exclusively by Stripe. No internet service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect your information and will notify you as required by law if a breach affects you.
We are based in the United States, and your information is processed in the US (and wherever our processors operate). If you use the Services from outside the US, you understand your information will be transferred to the US; where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as our processors’ Standard Contractual Clauses and data-protection commitments.
The Services are designed for adults and are not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age); if we learn we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact [email protected].
We may update this Policy as our tools or the law change. We will post the new version here with an updated effective date, and for material changes we will notify you by email or a prominent site notice before they take effect.
